The Seattle to Brussels network (S2B) is looking for a campaigner coordinator for the European campaign against Investor to State dispute Settlement (ISDS) and for corporate accountability, starting November 1st 2018 for a period of one year.

S2B is a network of development, environment, human rights, women and farmers organizations, trade unions, social movements as well as research institutes. It informally coordinates the broad civil society movement on trade and investment in Europe.

The role is a one year sabbatical cover.

The campaign coordinator will work closely with civil society organisation in all EU member states, working on trade, investment, Transnational Corporations and Human Rights, and corporate power.

For this position we are looking for a highly organised, experienced, creative, energetic and motivated individual.

Key responsibilities are to:

  • Keep the strategic and operational overview of the campaign;

  • Outreach to, involve and support European organisations and social movements willing to join the campaign;

  • Carry out planning, budgeting, fundraising;

  • Manage, or coordinate the management of the campaign’s external communication channels (social media, website, press);

  • Organize, moderate and conduct interactive decision taking processes;

  • Link the two sides of the campaign, the opposition to ISDS and support for corporate accountability legislations.

Skills required / qualifications:

  • Two to three years’ experience in working with an NGO at EU or international level;

  • Experience of managing campaigns including the various responsibilities involved (such as fundraising, strategic planning, work on messaging and communication);

  • Experience of project management including proven ability to effectively adjust plans to rapidly changing circumstances;

  • Understanding of problems related to Trade, Investment, the implications of European companies’ behaviour outside of Europe and of existing policies and processes in the fields of Trade, Investment and corporate accountability;

  • Understanding of EU institutions and of the EU political context;

  • Experience in working in civil society networks and good understanding of European social movement and NGO dynamics;

  • Experience in working with partners with different political cultures and backgrounds;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;

  • Commitment to S2B’s vision, mission and values;

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;

  • Motivation to exchange with and learn from colleagues;

  • Flexibility: able to attend evening/weekend meetings and undertake travel.

Additional information

The position will be hosted by an S2B member organisation in the city of residence of the campaign coordinator, in the EU. We offer a 30 hours/week position for a period of 1 year. The prefered period is from November 1, 2018 to October 31, 2019. Can be adjusted.

Salary around 3200 Euro gross. Can be adjusted according to levels of experience and place of residence.
